Michael Alan Welch (born July 25, 1987) is an Americanactor. He is perhaps best known for playing Luke Girardi on the television series Joan of Arcadia. Welch also appeared in the 1998 film Star Trek: Insurrection, as well as on the television series Malcolm in the Middle, The X-Files, 7th Heaven, Cold Case, Without a Trace, NCIS, Crossing Jordan and The Riches. One of his most acclaimed roles is as a teenage version of Colonel Jack O'Neill (Young Jack O'Neill) in the Stargate SG-1 episode "Fragile Balance". Michael Welch is due to play Mike Newton in the upcoming film Twilight, based on the book by Stephenie Meyer.[1]Welch was born in Los Angeles, California. He is Jewish on his mother's side.[2] Welch is a close friend of his Joan of Arcadia co-star Chris Marquette and Aaron Himelstein, who played the recurring character Friedman on the series.
